Letters for Juliet is a romantic comedy ideal for those who are looking for a relaxing and distracting time. Sophia is recognizes for being an excellent editor, but her dream is to become a writer. Victor, Sophie's fiance, is a cooking chef that is too busy to devote himself to anything other than his work. The couple decides to make a pre-honeymoon in Italy, but even there, Victor is much more interested in finding suppliers for his restaurant, leaving Sophia aside.

While walking alone through the streets of Verona, city famous for the romantic story of Romeo an Juliet, Sophie discovers a group of people who respond to letters, left in walls, by those who are seeking advice on love. Hidden between the bricks of the wall, the girl finds a letter written 50 years ago by Claire, who at that time was a 15 year old teenager, who fell in love with a Italian boy, but was too scared to start a relationship. Sophie decides to answer the lost letter and this is when the movie starts to become really intriguing. Claire is encouraged by the writer, that believes true love never dies, and now, aged 65, decides to look for the person she never forgot. This happening trigers a series of events that will change all the lives of those involved in the story.

The Ghost Writer

When a british ghost writer agrees to finish the memoirs of the former UK Prime Minister, Adam Lang, his agent assures him it's an opportunity of a lifetime. But, the project seems to have been condemned since the beginning. The man who was trying to finish this job, Lang's advisor, died in an unfortunate accident. Related to a lot of current topics, this political suspense is a story of deceit and betrayal at all levels; sexual, political, and literary. In a world where nothing and nobody can be trusted, the ghost writer soon discovers that the past can be fatal and comes to a conclusion that "history is decided by who is still alive to write it".

The protagonist is interpreted by Ewan McGregor, who did a excellent job playing this part. His acting was really convincing, so during the movie I felt connected to what was happening. When he was anguished, I was anguished and kind of cheering for him even though I knew how the story would end. The rest of the cast was also good, specially Kin Cattrall. Even though its a predictable movie, Ghost Writer didn't disappoint me, so I think anyone who watched it would really enjoy it. I just wouldn't recommend it for children because maybe they would be scared and not understand the story.

Whatever Works

Boris Yellnikoff is a very rude and old chess teacher that is always insulting his chess students. One day, while going home, Boris meets Melody (Evan Rachel Wood), an ingenuous girl from the interior that just arrived in New York. Since she doesn't know anyone, she asks him if she can stay at his apartment for the night and, even though he want, he lets her stay for a month. Time goes by and we notice she's not thinking about leaving the apartment, until the day she reveals she's in love with him. They end up marrying.

Suddenly, melody's mother shows up. Just like her daughter, she isn't used to the big city and is really religious. She doesn't approve the marriage, and goes look for a better person for her daughter to marry. During her search, she kind of opens her mind a little about the city and herself. Later, Melody's father does the same.

Boris, that in many moments talks to the public, says in a scene that this isn't a movie made for people to feel well. But, Melody reflects later that Boris' threatens are bigger than his actions. The story is about some ideas that society doens't approve. Its a nice movie, some parts are funny, and others romantic. I liked because it was different, its a totally different topic from the usual ones. I would recommend it for teenagers and adults, because its an interesting story, but that requires some maturity to understand.

Dear John

Dear John was directed by Lasse Hallstrom and based on the romance written by Nicholas Sparks. The story is about John Tyree, part played by Channing Tatum, and Savannah Curtis, part played by Amanda Seyfried. He's a young soldier and she's a college student, that fall in love during vacations in the university. Throughout the next seven disorderly years, the couple is separated by John's missions, and each time they become more dangerous. Although they see each other infrequently, they continue communicating through many love letters. These correspondences end up provoking a situation full of worrying consequences. He has to face the time and distance so that he can make his dream come true by marrying her.
I didn't read the book, but those who read were disappointed when they saw this movie. There were some funny and sweet scenes, but the end wasn't really that good. Also some scened were very long, so it became boring. I was expecting much more, since I've read and seen movies based on Nicholas Sparks' books, and they were much better.

Sherlock Homes is a character created by the doctor and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In the story, Holmes is an investigator that lives during the XIX century, and becomes famous for being very good in deducing things, still using logic, to solve crimes. This adaptation from the Sherlock Homes books to movie was excellent, they preserve his image as an arrogant, a little crazy, and intelligent person who, with the help of his inseparable friend Dr. Watson, goes around the city revealing absurd facts and solving many crimes. Robert Downey Jr. did a great job playing Sherlock Homes' part. Jude Law was also good playing Dr. Watson's, but it wasn't as brilliant as Robert Downer Jr.'s performance.

Since the story is based on the comic books about the investigator, the movie is full of action, but still very funny. Sherlock Homes is requested to solve a diabolical and fatal crime that may end up destroying England. To stop this from happening, he's obligated to use all his exceptional skills, not only mental but also physical skills, while facing the mysterious Blackwood. I recommend this movie for those who enjoy adventure movies with a lot of action. In the end, the main character leaves hints that there will be the next movie, leaving us waiting for more.
